I saw a UV light that was less expensive than yours at a retail outlet or that another contractor has available for installation. Is there a difference?
When choosing a UV light you must be aware of two things: 1) The wavelength and 2) The microwatt output. There are UVA and UVB lights available for cosmetic and medical purposes. The Elevated Air products use UVC light which is the germicidal wavelength for killing and sterilizing germs. UVA and UVB lights cannot kill germs; they are designed for a different purpose. Secondly the UVC light must have enough microwatt output or energy to be effective; at least 70 microwatts.
Store-bought and/or many UV lights sold through retail outlets or from some contractors may be cheaper but also may have the wrong wavelength and minimal microwatt output. The Elevated Air UVC lights use 180 microwatts which is 3.3 times more powerful than standard UV lights sold.
Buying a UV light online or at a store and not from an authorized dealer will void the lifetime warranty on your ballast and may damage the UV system.
