There are three phases of contamination in the air; particles, germs and gases, each equally responsible for aggravating asthma and allergies. If you know what she is allergic to you can choose a Elevated Air product that addresses that phase of contamination. Ideally you want to control all three phases of contamination.
There is a big difference between a filter and an air cleaner. 98% of the particles in the air that you breathe measure below one micron in size and are invisible. Many high end store bought filters are restrictive to the air that flows through your furnace and these small particles pass right through ALL “filters”. The Elevated Air Polarized Media Air Cleaner allows for good air flow while removing 97% of this smallest of particles by creating a magnetic field to capture these particles then applying a strong voltage to the collection media so that these particle stick permanently to the this media.
Yes, many of these high end air cleaners are very effective, yet can be expensive to have installed and maintained. The Elevated Air products use scientifically correct designed products to get the same efficiency as products that cost twice as much and our easy to replace media cost about the same as high end allergy filters that you buy at retail outlets. These allergy filters do a good job collecting the larger airborne particles yet cannot capture the smallest of allergens that the Elevated Air Polarized Media Air Cleaner removes from the air. 98% of the particles in the air that you breathe measure below one micron in size and are invisible. The Elevated Air Polarized Media Air Cleaner removes 97% of these particles from the air you breathe.
Studies conducted by the EPA show that a very light build up of dirt and dust on your heating and cooling coils, as well as a build up on the blower fan can cause you to overpay the utility company from 21 – 35%! Keeping those particles from passing through your system by collecting and removing those before they enter the system with our Elevated Air Polarized Media Air Cleaner will prevent this efficiency decrease from happening.
We have found that when consumers purchase replacement media and UV lights from retail outlet stores many times they purchase the wrong product and replace it which can damage the product and void the warranty. Due to installation, warranty and maintenance concerns we only sell our systems and replacement parts through authorized heating and cooling contractors to protect the consumer. Only Genuine Elevated Air replacement media and replacement UV light are sold through this network of contractors to ensure that you are getting the right replacement products, protecting your warranty, preventing unwarranted damage and keeping your air cleaner and UV light running at peak efficiency.
The EPA states that even if you don’t have asthma or allergies it is prudent to clean the air in your home. The reason they say this is twofold. One is that there are long-term effects and other ailments that are aggravated by breathing air inside the home that the EPA also states is are 2 – 5 times worse than the outside air. Headaches, dry skin, skin rashes, dizziness, lethargy, and future ailments that may include cancer are all ailments that are not inclusive with allergies yet are affected by the air you breathe. Elevated Air UV lights will naturally disinfect and deodorize your air from germs and gases 24 hours a day without using chemicals or sprays.
Secondly, studies also show that a buildup of only 1/20 inch of dust on your heating and cooling coils reduces the coils’ efficiency by 21% and 1/8 build-up on your fan decreases its ability to move air by as much as 30%. Keeping particles from passing through your system by collecting and removing them before they enter the system with our Elevated Air Polarized Media Air Cleaner will prevent this efficiency decrease from happening.
There are hundreds of filters and air cleaner products available and Consumer Reports can’t and doesn’t test them all. They only test products that are sold by well known brand name equipment companies and products sold retail with brand names that the typical consumer will recognize. The Elevated Air products are backed by a manufacturer that has been studying, designing and testing Indoor Air Cleaning products for over 30 years, both commercial and residential. Many independent real world and lab test have been conducted on these products with excellent results. Also, the Elevated Air products are backed by a 100% Satisfaction Guarantee for your piece of mind and protection.
All the products mentioned in this question are excellent products with peak performance. There are only 6 technologies available to you for whole house sub-micron particles control and you have mentioned 3 of them. Remember that 98% of all particles that you breathe measure below one micron in size and “filters” don’t have small enough holes to collect particles this small. If they did they would restrict air flow more than they do now. Air Cleaners allow for proper air flow while using magnetic attraction technology to stop and permanently capture these particles. The Elevated Air Polarized Media Air Cleaner has equivalent efficiency ratings as those mentioned and because of its unique compact design it can be installed and maintained at half the price.
This is the old apple and oranges analogy. The 3M products air “filters” and the Elevated Air Polarized Media product is an “Air Cleaner”. Remember that 98% of all particles that you breathe measure below one micron in size and “filters” don’t have small enough holes to collect particles in this range. The polarized media of the Elevated Air Polarized Media Air Cleaner magnetically attracts even the smallest of particles, removing them permanently from the air while allowing for proper airflow. High-end allergy filters bought at the store can be very restrictive to your furnace’s airflow and will create unwanted service calls and repairs due to improper airflow.
UV light can be dangerous if you are directly exposed to it like you are outside in direct sunlight. This is why we apply suntan lotion or sun block when we plan on spending extended time in the sun. The Elevated Air Germicidal UV lights are installed into your furnace or duct work to kill or sterilize germs as they pass through the system. You will not have any direct contact with the UV light and they are very safe and beneficial when installed properly.
Genuine Elevated Air replacement media must be used to prevent damage to the unit, protect the warranty, and keep it running at peak efficiency. We have found that when consumers purchase replacement media from retail outlet stores, many times they purchase the wrong product and replace it which can damage the product and void the warranty. Due to installation, warranty, and maintenance concerns, we only sell our systems and replacement parts through authorized heating and cooling contractors to protect the consumer. To purchase your replacement media, contact your installing contractor. If you do not know who that is, locate the find a dealer button and search for your state.
On average there are enough fibers and carbon in the Elevated Air media to last 3 months so it will be changed 4 times a year. Exceptions would include having smokers in the house, more than three pets, and other variables that would cause the particle count to rise substantially. In these cases, we find that 6 times a year is the common frequency.
Dust is heavy and sits in your carpets, on the floor, and in furniture and most of it never gets to your filter or air cleaner to be removed. With that said the dust that does reach the Elevated Air Air Cleaner will be removed and the smallest of particles that create dust are removed as well. In most cases, you will notice a lower level of dust in your home, but no product will totally eliminate dust.
Your heating and cooling system runs about 1.2 million cubic feet of air through itself each day carrying higher levels of particles, germs and gases than we experience outdoors.
Installing a Elevated Air complete system with the Polarized media air cleaner and dual wavelength UV lights you can experience less allergy symptoms and your HVAC system will run at factory fresh conditions stopping you from overpaying the utility company. You will have a noticeable difference in your air the first day. The 1.2 million cubic feet of air that runs through your system daily will be cleansed, disinfected and deodorized 24 hours a day naturally without using chemicals or sprays.
When choosing a UV light you must be aware of two things: 1) The wavelength and 2) The microwatt output. There are UVA and UVB lights available for cosmetic and medical purposes. The Elevated Air products use UVC light which is the germicidal wavelength for killing and sterilizing germs. UVA and UVB lights cannot kill germs; they are designed for a different purpose. Secondly the UVC light must have enough microwatt output or energy to be effective; at least 70 microwatts.
Store-bought and/or many UV lights sold through retail outlets or from some contractors may be cheaper but also may have the wrong wavelength and minimal microwatt output. The Elevated Air UVC lights use 180 microwatts which is 3.3 times more powerful than standard UV lights sold.
Buying a UV light online or at a store and not from an authorized dealer will void the lifetime warranty on your ballast and may damage the UV system.
The air cleaners sold on infomercials or at stores are “room” air cleaners and only have the capability to handle one room at best and usually only handle particles and do not address the germs and gases. The Elevated Air air cleaning products are designed to be installed into your heating and cooling system for “Whole House Air Cleaning.” Remember your heating and cooling system circulates all the air in your home about 4 times an hour or about 1.2 million cubic feet of air per day. Using your HVAC system as the conduit to move the air in your home past and through the Elevated Air Polarized Media Air Cleaners and the Dual Wavelength, 180 microwatt UVC/UVV lights will give you cleaner, fresher and healthier air throughout your entire home and not just in one room.
The whole idea of air cleaning is to remove particles, germs and gases which include chemicals. Many disinfectant and deodorizing sprays add unwanted chemicals to the air that can aggravate allergies and cause other ailments. Also, disinfectant sprays can only kill germs that the chemical has contact with, so you would need a lot of spray to disinfect all of the air in your home. A powerful Elevated Air dual wavelength UVC/UVV light installed into your ducts will disinfect and deodorize your indoor air 24 hours a day naturally without using chemicals or sprays.
Most UV likes on the market are rated to keep their intensity for approximately 1 year. After that, they may stay lit, but they lose their power quickly. The Elevated Air UVC/UVV lights have a special coating inside their lamps that makes the life of the lamp approximately 3 years. So, our frequency of changing the lamp is every 2-3 years which makes it very economical compared to standard UV lamps.
Our local Elevated Air dealer would be happy to evaluate your specific needs and recommend the package that best fits your needs and budget. To control all three phases if indoor air pollution (particles, germs and gases) the Elevated Air Polarized Media Air Cleaner combined with the dual wavelength Elevated Air UVC/UVV system is the optimum system. Ultimately we can consult with you but only you can choose the quality of the air that you breathe.
